Start ’em: Players I feel you may want to find room on your roster for or can make a great replacement for a bye week or injury.
Rex Grossman (WAS): Grossman earned the starting spot for week one with a good preseason, he followed that up by helping lead his team to week 1 victory over the New York Giants. Looks like Rex is gathering some steam and now heads into a much more appealing matchup against the Arizona Cardinals in week 2.
Cedric Benson (CIN): Despite off field issued Benson ran great in the Bengals week one matchup against the Browns going for 121 and a TD. In week 2 he should have a good run at matching those kind of numbers.
Cadillac Williams (STL): With Steven Jackson most likely out for week 2 against the Giants Cadillac will be seeing the bulk of the carries for the rams. He ran well in week 1 against Philly and was effective as a pass catcher adding to his PPR value.
Jacoby Jones (HOU): Jones has been very inconsistent the majority of his career but could change that this season. Houston is a top offence but will need guys like Jones to step up and become bigger play makers. Going into Miami for week 2 he gets a secondary that was shredded by Tom Brady at complete will and has struggled the past seasons on special teams. Jones has added value in leagues that count return yards.
Devery Henderson (NO): Although I believe Henderson is remarkably inconsistent he had a great game in week 1 going for 100 yards and was targeted 9 times by QB Drew Brees. With Marques Colston out and Lance Moore having missed time, I would expect him to see a good number of targets once again.
Aaron Hernandez (NE): The Patriots found success using thier TE’s a lot last season and it looks like the plan to continue that strategy in 2011. Hernandez is a dynamic playmaker who Brady loves to target seemingly anywhere on the field.
Sit ’em: Players I feel you may want to consider benching for the week and finding another option
Matt Hasselbeck (TEN): Hopefully you don’t start Hasselbeck very often, but if you do this is a week to skip after seeing what Baltimore’s always dangerous defence did to the Steelers.
Shonn Greene (NYJ): He will be a staple on my Sit em’s as long as he continues to struggle and L.T. is forced to pick up his slack. I might even play L.T. over Greene, in PPR the argument is even more valid.
Dwayne Bowe (KC): I had my doubts about Kansas City going before the season started and after thier shellacking at the hands of the Bills, I have even more. I would question starting Bowe until Matt Cassel shows some of the ability he displayed last year. Cassel had struggled in the preseason and it seems to have carried into the regular season.
Brandon Lloyd (DEN): Lingering groin issues that have kept him out of practices this week are certainly a concern. As with last year though, if he is on the field his team will likely be playing from behind.
Marcedes Lewis (JAX): As with Lloyd, Lewis could be playing through an injury as he did something to his calf in week 1. a matchup against the Jets who rarely allow a TD to opposing TE’s doesn’t bode well either.
