Recapping my Five (5) Favourite Point Spread Betting Lines for Week Three (3) of the 2013 NFL Football Season.
Week Three Result: 2-3
After Three Weeks: 7-7-1
Houston Texans -3.0 @ Baltimore Ravens: HOU 9 – BAL 30, LOSS
I am starting to think that the Ravens are a bit better of a team than I thought, and is a team that is going to get better as the year goes on. The Ravens are a well-coached team still with veteran players, but also with a slew of younger and newer players. As each week goes on I can see the Ravens gelling more and more and becoming a tougher matchup. Even without Ray Rice the Ravens were able to blowout the bipolar Texans.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New England Patriots -7.5: TB 3 – NE 23, LOSS
Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman continues to struggle, completing less than 50% of his passes for the third straight week for an NFL low completion percentage, he also through another interception in the loss. Tom Brady on the other hand completed 25/36 passes while throwing a pair of touchdowns to Kenbrell Thompkins. The Tampa Bay defence played well but is not going to be able to beat the Patriots with the offence only scoring 3 points. I am getting very worried about Josh Freeman and how he is holding the Buccs back.
Cleveland Browns @ Minnesota Vikings -8.0: CLE 31 – 27 MIN, LOSS
Did anyone really think the Weedon-less and Richardson-less Browns would actually be able to win in Minnesota? I know I didn’t, and according to most suicide pools I play in, neither did many other people. Third string quarterback Brian Hoyer threw 54 passes, completing 30 of them for over 300 yards and 3 touchdowns. They also faked a field goal for second quarter touchdown. Next week though I think the Bengals due their research and do a much better job shutting down the Browns new aerial attack.
Detroit Lions @ Washington Redskins -2.5: DET 27 – 20 WAS, WIN
The Lions had not won in Washington, ever, before winning this game on Sunday. It was a very entertaining game that was very back and forth with the Lions taking a lead and Washington routinely catching up. A couple of turnovers by Washington also helped secure the game for Detroit. The Lions have some very tough matchups in the next two weeks however against the Bears and Packers.
Indianapolis Colts +10.0 @ San Francisco Giants: IND 27 – 7 SF, WIN
Many people thought this would be a blowout game for the San Francisco 49’ers at home, a team with bigger and stronger lineman as well as a coach who is 7-0 when coming off a loss. However, if you give me Andrew Luck and a 10-point spread, I am going to take that line 10 times out of 10. Not only did Luck play well, so did the entire Colts team; they dominated the ‘49ers in almost every aspect for a 27-7 blowout. I think the absence of Vernon Davis really hurt the ‘49ers as the Colts were able to swarm Anquan Boldin, forcing Kaepernick to go elsewhere.
