Recapping my Five (5) Favourite Point Spread Betting Lines for Week Five (5) of the 2013 NFL Football Season.
Week Five Result: 2-3 (Correct on honourable mention though)
After Five Weeks: 11-13-1
Kansas City Chiefs -3.0 @ Tennessee Titans: KC 26 – 17 TEN, WIN
It was a tale of three games with the hometown Chiefs going up 13-0 on the Titans before the Titans then answered back with 17 straight points. In the fourth quarter However the Chiefs once again took over and scored 13 points in the final seven minutes of the game for a comfortable 9-point win and point spread cover. The Chiefs play very well at home.
New Orleans Saints -1.5 @ Chicago Bears: NO 26 – 18 CHI, WIN
The Saints continue to roll, going into Chicago and getting an 8-point win over the now 3-2 Bears. Drew Brees was extremely efficient once again as Chicago native Pierre Thomas was a beast playing in his home city. New Orleans is looking like of the best teams in the league right now along with Denver and the Seahawks. Things were looking good for me at this point with both the Chiefs and Saints covering.
Denver Broncos -8.5 @ Dallas Cowboys: DEN 51 – 48 DAL, LOSS
Things looked rough early as the Cowboys went up 14-0 quickly, but I thought Denver would end up covering, as they had an 8-point lead at the half they then turned into a 15-point lead. Things didn’t go as planned however as Tony Romo went off for over 500 yards and kept Dallas in the game up until his untimely interception that gave Manning the chance to run the clock and win the game with a field goal. Man, what a game.
San Diego Chargers -5.0 @ Oakland Raiders: SD 17 – 27 OAK, LOSS
This game went south for the Chargers from jump as the Raiders took a 17-point lead and never looked back. Young quarterback Terrelle Pryor looked very good completing 18/23 passes for just over 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns. After being shutout in the first half, the Chargers looked much better in the fourth quarter but had already been stung by a Raiders fumble return touchdown that made it 24-3 at the time.
New York Jets @ Atlanta Falcons -10.5: NYJ 30 – 28 ATL, LOSS
Things continue to slide for the former 13-win Falcons while the Jets continue to impress. The game was very back and forth with five lead changes before everything was said and done with the Jets winning via a late field goal. Some questionable coaching decisions from Mike Smith of the Falcons also may have attributed to the Flacons suffering their fourth loss of the season, but really the Falcons never had a chance of covering this spread. I like many others thought the Falcons would start their rebound with a big win at home over the Jets, but they are clearly missing a pass a rush and a running game while rookie quarterback Geno Smith of the Jets continues to improve.
