St. Louis Rams @ Houston Texans -7.5
At 2-3 it has been a pretty disappointing year thus far for the Houston Texans, capped off by the benching off Matt Schaub following his fourth straight game with a pick-6. It has been announced that Schaub will get the start again in week six and I am going to trust the coaching staff will use a heavy running game in order to limit the amount of passes Schaub throws. Foster has rushed for 200 yards in his last two games while Ben Tate still has a 5.3 yards per carry average; I expect Gary Kubiak to pound the rock as much as possible with his two great runners and beat up the Rams. Texans -7.5.
Oakland Raiders +9.5 @ Kansas City Chiefs
I expect the Chiefs to win this game at home over the Raiders for the first time in seven tries, but I also expect the Raiders to cover. The Raiders played an excellent game last week against the Raiders and continued to show me that they can be a competitive team with Terrelle Pryor under centre. Also, the Chiefs play a very conservative game that doesn’t lend well to blowing teams out. Raiders +9.5.
Tennessee Titans @ Seattle Seahawks -13.5
The two-touchdown spread seemed a little big to me at first and I didn’t have this game as one of my five favourites originally, but after looking into this weeks match up I came around. While the Seahawks tend to play teams closer when on the road, they have won both their home games this year by 20 or more points, including the domination of rival San Fran. The Seahawks are at home again this weekend, coming off a loss and playing an unpredictable Titans team. Coming off the loss to Indy and returning home after two weeks away I think the Seahawks try to smash the Titans. Seahawks -13.5.
New Orleans Saints +2.5 @ New England Patriots
The way these two teams have been so far this year I would have expected the Saints to get the 3-point spread. The Saints offence is running on all cylinders and the defence continues to play at an extremely high level while the Patriots are squeaking out wins and awaiting the return of many key players. The Patriots will have Amendola back and possibly Gronk, but they still lost Vince Wilfork last week and will greatly miss his massive presence in the middle of the defence. Especially if Gronk is out once again, I don’t see the Patriots outscoring the Saints, even at home. Saints +2.5.
Indianapolis Colts -2.5 @ San Diego Chargers
The Monday night matchup has the surging Colts facing one of the seasons surprise teams, the Chargers. The Colts are coming off a big win over NFC favourite Seattle and has what I believe is already one of the best quarterbacks in the league in Andrew Luck leading the way. The Chargers on the other hand were playing surprisingly well before being handed a loss last week by the Raiders. The Chargers defence has struggled stopping offences this season and will continue that trend this weekend. The Colts improved line should make things tricky for Rivers and the unpredictable players around him. The Chargers are having trouble figuring out if they are a good team or a mediocre team while the Colts seems to going one way, up. Colts -2.5.
